Because you are looking at this page, this means you are engaged to be married.
Congratulations!
There are two steps that need to be taken before your wedding day.
First, you need to set up a time with the pastor to prepare yourselves for this wonderful sacrament.
Second, you will need to plan the wedding ceremony itself. This page and book are provided to help you to do that.
The first question is whether or not you want the wedding ceremony to take place within a mass.
If you are both Catholic and practicing, you would want to consider having the ceremony taking place within a mass.
If one party is Catholic and the other is not, you might consider not having the ceremony take place within a mass due to one party (and their family and friends) not being able to receive nor understand the mass itself.
If the ceremony is a not a mass, you will need to choose:
- Opening Prayer
- Scripture readings – Old Testament, Responsorial Psalm, New Testament, Gospel
- Vow choices
- Intercessions
- Nuptial Blessing
- Final Blessing
If the ceremony is a mass, you will also need to choose:
- Prayer over the gifts
- Preface
- Prayer after Communion
These choices are all in this book as well as on our website for you to cut and paste. The website has samples of wedding program booklets for weddings with and without a mass.
God bless you,
Fr. Michael B. Haag
